Sony Ericsson K600

Sony Ericsson K600 mobile phone review and features Sony Ericsson K600 mobile phone review and features

A slightly more compact than usual 3G handset with the increasingly standard 1.3 megapixel camera, the confusingly named K600i appears to be Sony Ericsson's attempt to take 3G into the mainstream.

The features on the K600 are exactly what you'd expect for a 3G handset - a 176x220 pixel display in 262,000 colours, video calling with twin cameras, Bluetooth, a WAP 2.0 browser and email client, multimedia playback and video capture, voice control and everything else you'd expect, plus an FM radio.

There's no expandable memory on the K600i, but the internal memory is 37Mb which means that is can store a moderate amount of media files and data. On 3G the talktime is 2 hours, on GSM it's 7.5 hours, with 12 days standby in either mode. Physically, the K600 is 104x45x19mm making it compact for a 3G phone, but still fairly big for a GSM one. Weight is not known at present.

The K600 is fully featured with a suite of business applications that handle personal information management and PC-synchronisation via USB, making it the ideal executive work tool, providing business efficiency with high speed access.

High quality audio coupled with an FM radio and the ability to import full track music downloads direct to the phone make the K600 a quality music player and ideal companion for travelling, the gym or simply relaxing. For consumers keen to exercise their creative muscle, a host of personal creativity tools allows them to personalise ringtones, wallpapers, still shots and video footage in new, inspiring ways.

The Sony Ericsson isn't a hugely innovative phone in terms of specification, but its positioning between the K500 and K700 2G phones is interesting - it shows that Sony Ericsson is quite happy to push 3G handsets for the mass market rather than just a product niche.
