NTT DoCoMo and Mitsubishi announce the Music Porter II

The FOMA terminal (Freedom of Mobile Multimedia Access, DoCoMo's brand name for 3G services, based on the W-CDMA format.) terminal from NTT DoCoMo is meant for musi clovers. The handset claims to have a playback of 20 hours of music. This is possible thanks to the Memory stick Pro that has been included with the handset (capacity 128 megabytes). The music playing device supports a large number of formats including ATRAC3 / ATRAC3plus / MP3 / AAC. To make it a complete music phone, the handset also has a FM tuner.

Just like handsets that appear like digital cameras when held horizontally, the Music Porter II looks more like a walkman than a cell phone when held like that. Mitsubishi has even thrown in some external buttons to complete the look and control music without opening the clamshell. Like all decent handsets, this one too comes with a megapixel camera - 1.3 megapixels in this case. Besides the battery being able to support 20 hours of music while being played back, this figure can go upto 30 hours if the user is using the device as a FM radio. Music can be listened to by the loudspeaker or the accompanying handsfree.

The Music Porter II will be available in a choice of 2 colors - red and white. The handset is expected to debut in Japan on the 22nd of December. The phone can be connected to the PC using the built-in USB port. Also comes along with the package - The Beatjam software which helps in maintaining the music files on the device.
